Changing Broker/Dealer of Record (non-Brokerage accounts)
Requirements to change the broker/dealer of record include:
- ONESCO must have a valid selling agreement with the product sponsor. Please refer to the ONESCO Available Product List.
- Registered representative must be properly appointed to sell the product and licensed in the client’s state of residency (where applicable) through ONESCO.
- New ONESCO accounts require a completed ONESCO-1 customer information form.
- Client and registered representative must complete the ONESCO-30. The client, registered representative and an ONESCO principal must sign.
This form must be completed if a newly appointed registered representative wishes to transfer clients from a previous broker/dealer, or a new client wants to transfer existing accounts. The home office, or supervising OSJ if applicable, must authorize and process the change. Please note that the current broker/dealer is not a party to the transaction and new registered representatives must review any non-compete contracts that may be in existence with their former broker/dealers before pursuing the change.
Once all of the requirements have been met, the home office or supervising OSJ will mail the requested change to the product sponsor for completion.
